WINTER ACTIVITIES
Although you won't be basking in the sun on
the beach, you can still have a great time at Hillby Thatch Cottages. Both
cottages have fireplaces in addition to central heat so you'll be toasty
warm.
Winter is a wonderful season in the country.
And we have some suggestions you might think about:
- November
- Visit road side farm stands and pick
up gourds and pumpkins for the Thanksgiving table.
- Take a walk in Allegan State Forest, see
thousand of geese migrating and maybe even get a glimpse of trumpeter swans
on their way to Mexico.
- December
- Organize a Christmas shopping trip
to Saugatuck. There are no crowds, plenty of lovely things and the Chamber
of Commerce has a horse drawn carriage that will shuttle you around town
for a pittance. At night the streets are lined with light covered trees and
the park is full of candles.
- January
- Relax after the holiday overwhelm.
Bring a good book and prop your feet up by the fire. The snow is lovely
in Michigan. It stays bright white for a long time.
- Cross country trails are within a 10 minute
ride and downhill skiing is only 35 miles away.
- Our witchazel bushes will be sporting lemon
scented flowers in the snow!
- February
- Extend the Valentine's fun by planning
a romantic weekend. Make a date at Toulouse, a French restaurant, in Saugatuck
which is reasonably priced ($15-22) for the quality food and beautiful atmosphere.
- Horse back riding in the snow is an amazing
adventure. There are several stables nearby.
